User Interface Engineer

The Studio Tools Department is responsible for Pixar’s in-house movie production software. Our mission is to combine cutting-edge computer graphics techniques with exceptional engineering to create the world’s best movie production tools. These tools are used by every production department at Pixar to create feature films such as Toy Story 2 and short films such as For the Birds.


Responsibilities

  • Design and implement GUI application framework/developer toolkit for in-house animation production software.
  • Extend the toolkit to include new widgets and interaction techniques.
  • Coordinate and support the GUI design efforts of other software engineers.
  • Work as part of a team to develop and deliver high-quality software in response to production requirements.
  • Diagnose and fix bugs in existing software.


Qualifications

  • Experience with GUI development in several different application frameworks or GUI toolkits.
  • Experience with internals of GUI toolkit implementation and application framework class hierarchy.
  • GUI development experience in Unix/Linux, Microsoft Windows, and/or Macintosh.
  • Software development experience in C/C++ on Unix/Linux.
  • Knowledge of 3D computer graphics and 3D interaction techniques is highly desirable.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • Post-graduate degree a plus.
