Lawrence Levy To Step Down As Pixar CFO
Point Richmond, CA - March
10, 1999 - Pixar announced today that its current chief financial officer
and executive vice president, Lawrence Levy, will leave his posts at the
end of March. Pixar also announced that Mr. Levy and Ed Catmull, Pixar's
executive vice president, and chief technical officer, will join Pixar's
Board of Directors.
"While we are sorry to
see Lawrence move on from day to day management, we look forward to his
contributions as a board member," said Steve Jobs, Pixar's Chairman
and CEO. "With the recent blockbuster success of A Bug's Life and
this year's highly anticipated release of Toy Story 2, we are certain
that the studio will be able to bring on another world
class CFO soon."
"After four years of
growing the studio, I am stepping down to take personal time," said
Mr. Levy, "Following the smooth transition, I very much look forward
to contributing to Pixar as a Board member."
Pixar Animation Studios combines
creative and technical artistry to create original characters and stories
in the new medium of computer animation. Pixar created and produced the
first computer-animated feature film, the Academy Award winning Toy Story,
and in 1997 entered into an equal partnership with The Walt Disney Company
to finance, produce, and distribute five computer-animated feature films
and related products. Pixar's stock is traded on the NASDAQ National Market
under the symbol PIXR.
