Television Releases Disney/Pixar's Animated Hit "A Bug's Life" to Pay-Per-View
Beginning October 1, 2000
BURBANK, CA - August 10, 2000 - Buena Vista Television and Pixar Animation
Studios (Nasdaq: PIXR) today announced the release of "A Bug's Life"
for exhibition on Pay-Per-View beginning October 1, 2000. This marks the
first time one of the great Disney and Pixar animated feature films can
be seen on Pay-Per-View.
"This is a great blockbuster
film which will be a wonderful addition for family home entertainment
as we enter into the holidays," said Janice Marinelli, President
of Buena Vista Television. "Also, this is certainly a natural extension
of our Pay-Per-View business, coming on the heels of the success we experienced
with "The Sixth Sense," which was record breaking in Pay-Per-View."
"A Bug's Life" was
created and produced by Pixar at its studios in Northern California, and
features an ensemble cast including Dave Foley, Kevin Spacey, Julia Louis-Dreyfus,
and the musical genius of Randy Newman. "A Bug's Life" is the
story of an inventive and well meaning ant named Flik who tries to help
his beleaguered colony from the plundering of Hopper and his grasshopper
cronies.
"A Bug's Life" was
a box office hit bringing in more than $163 million. It can be seen on
DirecTV, InDemand, EchoStar, and TVN distribution services after October
1, 2000.
