Buena Vista International Television Announces Licenses for Classic Treasures for Broadcast in Switzerland and Austria.
Las Vegas 22 January
2002 Buena Vista International Television (BVI-TV) has licensed
the Classic Treasures package a unique collection of
Disney and Disney/Pixar animated features to broadcasters across
Europe for transmission on terrestrial television for the first time.
Agreements have been made with ORF for transmission in Austria and with
Telepool Zürich for transmission on SF DRS in Switzerland. The announcement
was made today by Tom Toumazis, senior vice president and managing director,
Buena Vista International Television.
Viewers in these territories
will be able to enjoy some of the most popular animated movies ever: A
Bugs Life, Mulan, Hunchback of Notre Dame, Toy
Story and Toy Story 2. These titles combined have grossed over
$2 billion at worldwide box offices and have been watched by over 121
million people at cinemas in Europe alone.
Toumazis said As the
box-office figures have proved, these films have been immensely popular
with kids and their families around the world. I am delighted that, for
the first time, viewers will be able to enjoy these classic films on terrestrial
television in Switzerland and Austria.
